Royal Decree 7/87 Extending the Exemption from Income Tax Prescribed for Companies Wholly Owned by Omani Nationals

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

Royal Decree 47/81 Issuing the Corporate Income Tax Law,

and Royal Decree 45/86 Extending the Exemption from Income Tax Prescribed for Companies Wholly Owned by Omanis,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

The exemption prescribed by the mentioned Royal Decree 45/86 for companies wholly owned by Omani nationals hereby continues until the end of December 1987.

Article 2

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette.

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 8/80 Issuing the Civil Service Law and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal bin Said is hereby appointed Secretary of the Council of Ministers.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

Royal Decree 42/74 Issuing the Oil and Minerals Law,

Royal Decree 74/77 Ratifying the Petroleum Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate and a Group of Companies Comprising Deminx, Agip, and BP, signed on 12 October 1977,

the subsequent assignments made between this group and its subsidiary companies,

Royal Decree 105/84 Determining the Final Shares of the Companies Constituting the Group,

the assignment by Union Texas Oman Inc of all its rights and obligations in the mentioned petroleum agreement to Neste OY, and the acceptance by the latter of this assignment,

and the approval of the Minister of Oil and Minerals to the mentioned assignment, as set out in his letter dated 16 December 1986,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

The assignment by Union Texas Oman Inc of all its rights and obligations in the mentioned petroleum agreement to Neste OY is hereby approved. The final shares in that agreement are distributed among the companies as follows:

15% Deminex Oman Limited

30% Agip International Limited

5% B.P. Petroleum Development Limited

10% Hispanica De Petróleos S.A.

25% BP North America

15% Neste OY

Article 2

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 3/87 Amending Some Provisions of Royal Decree 24/86

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 24/86 Establishing the Institute of Sharia Judiciary, Preaching, and Guidance,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

Articles 5 and 6 of the mentioned Royal Decree 24/86 are hereby amended as follows:

Article 5 is hereby amended to read:

The institute must have a board composed as follows:

– The Minister of Justice, Endowments, and Islamic Affairs — Chairman

– Grand Mufti of the Sultanate — Deputy Chairman

– Director general of the institute — Member

– Director general of the headquarters of the ministry — Member

– A representative of the Ministry of Education and Youth with the rank of director general — Member

– Judge of the Sharia Court of Appeal in the Capital — Member

The deputy chairman of the council shall assume the chairmanship of the institute.

The text of article 6(4) is hereby amended to read:

Determining the functions and duties of the Director General of the Institute.

Article 2

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
