We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, adopted by the Conference of Plenipotentiaries on 10 September 1998,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The accession of the Sultanate to the mentioned convention is hereby approved.

Article II

Competent entities shall deposit the instruments of accession to the convention in accordance with its provisions.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 77/99 Amending the Omani Penal Law

Arabic We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96, and the Omani Penal Law issued by Royal Decree 7/74 and its amendments, and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A new article numbered 222bis is hereby added to the mentioned Omani Penal Law with the following text:

Whoever engages in prostitution or debauchery for a fee and without discrimination must be punished by imprisonment for three months to two years.

Article II

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

Royal Decree 32/88 Forming the National Emergency Committee and its amendments,

the Civil Defence Law issued by Royal Decree 76/91,

and the Financial Law issued by Royal Decree 47/98,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The mentioned Civil Defence Law is hereby amended in accordance with the attached provisions.

Article II

The mentioned Royal Decree 32/88 is hereby repealed.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
