We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

An award for culture, arts, and literature is hereby established named the Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts, and Literature.

Article II

The board of trustees of the award is hereby formed under the chairmanship of Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa and with the membership of:

– Minister of Information—Deputy Chairman.

– Secretary General of the Sultan Qaboos Centre for Islamic Culture—Secretary.

– Dr Waleed Mahmoud Khalis.

– Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Salim Al-Falahi.

– Musallam bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Kathiri.

– Dr Zakaria bin Khalifa bin Darwish Al-Mahrami.

Article III

The chairman of the board shall issue the regulations and decisions governing the award.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

Dr Mona bint Salim bin Khalfan Al-Jardaniya is hereby appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Technical Education and Vocational Training.

Article II

Hamad bin Khamis bin Abdullah Al-Amri is hereby appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower for Labour Affairs.
