We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,
and the System of the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science promulgated by Royal Decree 95/88,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The texts of articles 2 and 4 of the aforementioned System of the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science are hereby replaced with the following texts:
Article 2
A committee is hereby formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, and the membership of:
– The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education and Curriculum.Deputy—Chairman
– A representative of the rank of director general for each of the following ministries and entities:
Education, Manpower, Social Development, Higher Education, Foreign Affairs, Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, Information, Heritage and Culture, National Economy, Sports Affairs, Environment and Climate Affairs, Fisheries, and Sultan Qaboos University.
– Four persons with expertise in the affairs of education, culture, and science, who must be appointed by a decision by the chairman of the committee. Their term of membership is three years, subject to renewal.
– Secretary of the committee —member and rapporteur
The chairman of the committee has the right to recompose it, according to the ministries and entities created and abolished and the amendments made to their names.
Article 4
The chairman of the committee may include in its membership the entities whose functions are related to the competence of the committee, and seek the assistance of those with expertise and competence to attend its sessions and to carry out the works relating to it.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.
