We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statue of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,
the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women adopted by the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations 34/180 dated 18 December 1979,
Royal Decree 42/2005 Approving the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women,
the decision of States Parties to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in its eighth meeting held on 22 May 1995 concerning the amendment to article 20, paragraph 1 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women,
and the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations at its 99th plenary session held on 22 December 1995 approving the amendment to article 20, paragraph 1 of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The amendment to article 20, paragraph 1 of the aforementioned convention is hereby ratified in the form set out in the attached decision of the state parties.
Article II
The reservation of the Sultanate to article 15, paragraph 4 of the aforementioned convention is hereby withdrawn.
Article III
Competent bodies shall take the necessary measures to implement the provisions of the two preceding articles.
Article IV
This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
