Statement of the Supreme Committee
Within its continuous sessions held to address the urgent needs generated by COVID-19 in the Sultanate, the Supreme Committee has examined the latest epidemiological updates of the pandemic, and the global transmission of its variants, which put a major pressure on the local healthcare system triggered by the increase of cases, mortalities, and patients in intensive care units.
Therefore, as an effective response to and recovery from the pandemic, and to maintain the capacity and preparedness of local healthcare system, the Supreme Committee has decided the following:
First: to extend the night closure of commercial activities and the movement ban of individuals and vehicles to start from 5pm to 4am, effective Friday evening 16th of July 2021 until Saturday morning 31 st of July 2021 , except for the three days of Eid al-Adha (10 to 12 Dhu al-Hijjah 1442) in which the Supreme Committee decided that the closure of commercial activities and the complete ban on the movement of individuals and vehicles will continue throughout the day.
Second: to exclude Musandam governorate from the decision to close business activities and the movement ban of individuals and vehicles, due to the low number of cases and inpatients in hospitals starting from today, while emphasizing the commitment of all residents of Musandam governorate to the necessary precautions, such as wearing face masks and avoiding gatherings. Only those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine that is approved in the Sultanate (aged 18 years and above) who are citizens and residents of the Sultanate, and those who have received two doses of the approved vaccine for arrivals from outside the Sultanate, are allowed to enter Musandam Governorate, starting from 5pm on Friday 28 Dhu’ al-Qi’dahl 1442 AH corresponding to 9 July 2021.
Third: to remove the Arab Republic of Egypt from the list of countries in which entry to the Sultanate is forbidden, and to add arrivals from; the Republic of Singapore, the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Tunisia, the State of Libya, the Argentine Republic, the Republic of Colombia and Brunei Darussalam, and travellers who have been in or transited through any of these countries in the previous 14 days prior to their request to enter the Sultanate, effective 5pm Friday, 28 Dhul’ Qi’dah 1442 AH, 9 July 2021 until further notice. The Supreme Committee hereby urges citizens of the Sultanate not to visit the said states during this period.
With the advent of the monsoon in Dhofar Governorate (Khareef), only citizens and residents of the sultanate who have received at least one dose of the approved vaccine in the country (aged 18 and over) can enter Dhofar governorate. Travellers from abroad who have received the two doses of the approved vaccine are also allowed to enter the Governorate. This decision shall take effect 5pm Friday 28 Dhu’al-Qi’da 1442, July 9, 2021 until further notice. Hotels and furnished flats in the governorate must not exceed 50% of their capacity, in addition to the need to adhere to all the precautionary controls adopted by the competent authorities.
The committee stresses that Eid al-Adha prayers and traditional Eid souks may not be held, and that all kind of gatherings are prohibited across the Sultanate, including family gatherings, greeting gatherings and mass celebrations of Eid. The committee eventually stresses that the decisions to close land boarders will remain in effect until further notice, plus to suspend holding international events, activities and conferences in the Sultanate, and to close wedding halls and lounges and activities associated with the rental of tents, and to suspend local events and activities of a public nature, including sport activities and all exhibitions.
