Royal Decree 58/2009 Issuing the System of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Commercial Companies Law 4/74,

the Law on Pensions and End of Service Gratuity for Omani Government Employees promulgated by Royal Decree 26/86,

the System of Public Authorities and Establishments promulgated by Royal Decree 116/91,

Royal Decree 39/96 Determining the Competences of the Ministry of Finance and Adopting Its Organisational Structure,

the Financial Law promulgated by Royal Decree 47/98,

Royal Decree 4/99 Determining the Competences of the Ministry of National Economy and Adopting Its Organisational Structure,

the State Financial Audit Law promulgated by Royal Decree 55/2000,

the Law Granting the Concession of Salalah Electricity Facility promulgated by Royal Decree 20/2001,

the Privatisation Law promulgated by Royal Decree 77/2004,

the Law on the Regulation and Privatisation of the Electricity and Related Water Sector promulgated by Royal Decree 78/2004,

the Civil Service Law promulgated by Royal Decree 120/2004,

Royal Decree 92/2007 Establishing the Public Authority for Electricity and Water and Appointing Its Chairman,

and the Tender Law promulgated by Royal Decree 36/2008,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The provisions of the attached system shall apply in regard to the Public Authority for Electricity and Water.

Article II

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water shall issue the necessary decisions and regulations to implement the provisions of the attached system, and until these decisions and regulations are issued, the laws and systems applicable to the units of the administrative apparatus of the state shall operate in regard to that which is not governed by a special text in this system and in a manner that does not contradict with its provisions.

Article III

All that is contrary to the attached system, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article IV

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Ambassador Sheikh Humaid bin Ali bin Sultan Al-Maani, Our ambassador to the Republic of India, is hereby appointed a non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ours to the following:

– The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

– The Republic of Maldives.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

have decreed as follows

Article I

The following are hereby appointed Supreme Court Judges:

– Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Nabhani.

– Humood bin Hamad bin Ali Al-Maskari.

– Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Salim Al-Siyabi.

Royal Decree 49/2009 Promulgation of the Law on the Protection of the Right of Breeder of New Plant Varieties

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Law on the Protection of New Plant Varieties promulgated by Royal Decree 92/2000,

Royal Decree 37/2007 regarding the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to Certain International Conventions Relating to the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights,

Royal Decree 37/2008 Determining the Competences of the Ministry of Agriculture and Adopting Its Organisational Structure,

and the Industrial Property Rights Law promulgated by Royal Decree 67/2008,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The provisions of the attached Law on the Protection of Breeder's Rights in New Varieties of Plants shall apply.

Article II

The aforementioned Royal Decree 92/2000 is hereby repealed.

Article III

The Minister of Agriculture shall issue the regulations and decisions implementing the provisions of the attached law, and until they are issued, the regulations and decisions in force continue to operate to the degree that they do not contradict with its provisions.

Article IV

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

Arabic We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Recognition of Hallmarking of Precious Metals and Cooperation in the Field of Standardization and Monitoring Precious Metals and Gemstones Activities between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the State of Qatar signed in Doha on 15 Rabi Al-Awwal 1429, corresponding to 23 March 2008, and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The aforementioned memorandum of understanding is hereby ratified.

Article II
