We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

Royal Decree 8/80 Issuing the Civil Service Law and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 97/81 Establishing the Public Authority for Marketing Agricultural Products,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

Said bin Nasser Al-Khusaibi is hereby appointed Executive President of the Public Authority for Marketing Agricultural Products and a member of its Board of Directors, transferred from the Ministry of Information.

Article 2

The executive president of the authority shall supervise its executive committee and shall prepare reports on its activity for the board of directors, in addition to other powers determined for him by the board.

Article 3

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

and Royal Decree 46/85 Adopting the Organisational Structure of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

A committee named the “National Committee for Child Welfare” is hereby established at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour.

Article 2

The committee shall exercise the following powers:

(a) Proposing appropriate policies and plans for child welfare.

(b) Coordinating between the relevant ministries and government entities in developing implementation programmes and projects relating to them.

(c) Following up on the implementation of child welfare policies and plans by the relevant entities.

(d) Encouraging field research programmes and studies aimed at providing statistics and information on the needs of children and working to develop the necessary plan for this.

(e) Proposing appropriate ways to finance child welfare programmes.

(f) Studying issues relating to childhood that are presented to international and Arab conferences, meetings, and committees, and following up on the implementation of what is agreed upon in regard to them.

Article 3

The committee is hereby formed as follows:

Minister of Social Affairs and Labour Chairman

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour Deputy chairman

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Youth Affairs Member

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Member

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information Member

Undersecretary of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Member

Article 4

The Directorate General of Women and Child Affairs hereby undertakes the secretarial work of the committee.

Article 5

The committee shall set the internal regulations for governing its work.

Article 6

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
