Royal Decree 60/2020 Appointing a Chairman for the Private Office

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and Royal Decree 59/2020 Establishing the Private Office,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Dr Hamad bin Said bin Sulaiman Al-Aufi is hereby appointed the Chairman of the Private Office with the same rank and financial entitlements.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 59/2020 Establishing the Private Office

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Law concerning the Financial System of the Diwan of Royal Court Issued by Royal Decree 128/91,

the Law on Pensions and End of Service Gratuity for Omani Employees of the Diwan of Royal Court promulgated by Royal Decree 86/96,

and the Law concerning the Employee System of the Diwan of Royal Court promulgated by Royal Decree 97/97,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

An office named the “Private Office” is hereby established directly subordinate to His Majesty the Sultan, and its organisational structure shall be adopted by royal decree.

Article II

The competences of the Private Office are hereby determined in accordance with the attached annex.

Article III

The Private office shall have a chairman appointed by royal decree and assisted by a sufficient number of employees from a variety of disciplines relevant to the work of the office.

Article IV

The provisions of the Law concerning the Financial System of the Diwan of Royal Court, the Law on Pensions and End of Service Gratuity for Omani Employees of the Diwan of Royal Court, and the Law concerning the Employee System of the Diwan of Royal Court, shall apply to the Private Office and its employees, and the Chairman of the Private Office shall have the authorities of the minister stipulated in these laws.

Article V

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 58/2020 Approving the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Minamata Convention on Mercury

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Minamata Convention on Mercury done at Kumamoto, Japan on 10 October 2013,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Minamata Convention on Mercury is hereby approved in the form attached.

Article II

Competent bodies shall deposit the instrument of accession for the aforementioned convention in accordance with its provisions.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 57/2020 Approving the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

Royal Decree 119/94 Approving the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to Some International Agreements,

and the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity done at Nagoya on 29 October 2010,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity is hereby approved in the form attached.

Article II

Competent bodies shall deposit the instrument of accession for the aforementioned protocol in accordance with its provisions.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 56/2020 Determining the Dates of Official Holidays (Repealed)

Arabic We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96, and Royal Decree 76/96 Determining the Dates of Official Holidays, and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The dates of official holidays for the units of the administrative apparatus of the state, and other legal persons and establishments of the private sector are hereby determined for the following celebrations and occasions as follows: First:
(a) Hijri New Year 1 Muharram
(b) Birth of the Prophet 12 Rabi Al-Awwal
(c) Isra and Mi’raj 27 Rajab
(d) National Day 18 and 19 November
If one or both days of the weekend fall within the aforementioned holidays, it will be compensated by one day. The date of the National Day holiday may be modified if public interest so requires. Second: (a) Eid Al-Fitr: starting from 29 Ramadan until 3 Shawwal. (b) Eid Al-Adha: starting from 9 Dhu Al-Hijja until 12 Dhu Al-Hijja. Friday shall be compensated if it falls on the first day of either Eid.

Article II

The aforementioned Royal Decree 76/96 is hereby repealed as well as all that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions.

Article III

Saud bin Nasser bin Rashid Al-Shukaili is hereby appointed a Deputy to the Chairman of the Tax Authority with the same grade and financial entitlements.

Article II

and the Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Special, Service and Official Passports signed in the city of Muscat on 11 February 2018,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The aforementioned agreement is hereby ratified in the form attached.

Article II

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall come into force on the date of its issuance.
